RAINBOW HUT

Rainbow Hut is the place to dance.

Primitive men were dancing around the fire in the night.

We will dance under the rainbow during midday.

PAST RAINBOW HUT

Anjuna Rainbow Hut 1989
1989/7m × 7m × 4m/Bamboo,Leaf of Palm Tree,Mirror,Water.
This is the first Rainbow Hut. I named it Rainbow Hut because it sounds pleasant and easy to
remember. I was traveling all over the world during 1980's and I used to stay in India. I wanted to make a place to meet people, dance together, enjoy and understand this world. I put up posters on the restaurants to announce " Let's play drums at the Rainbow Hut!". I played drums with many travelers from all over the world.

Echigo Tsumeri Rainbow Hut
2006/15m × 15m × 4m/Bamboo,Rice straw,Mirror,Water,Cotten,Sand
This is the first Rainbow Hut I made in Japan. I spent one month to find this spot because the energy from the ground is very important for the Rainbow Hut. Mirrors were placed under the water in order to reflect the sunlight so that people could see the rainbow colors inside of the hut.

Echigo Tsunari Rainbow Hut 2012
2012/18m × 20m × 3,5m/Tree,Jute,Mud,Mirror,Water,
This Rainbow Hut was set up on the lawn in the park. Hundreds of spectators visited this installation everyday. People couldn’t see inside from outside but once they come into the hut they could see another world which was filled with rainbow colors. I played music as a DJ and the visitors could dance with the music from the headphones.

Ibuki Island Rainbow Hut
2013/18m × 18m × 3m/Tree, Blanket, Mud, Mirror, Water.
The Rainbow Hut is a place to dance and, at the same time, a place to live. I dream we dance in the hut and we pick up vegetables from the roof of the hut and cock on a bonfire and sleep on the hammock in the Rainbow Hut. Many vegetables and fruits (like tomato and watermelon) were growing around this hut.

This work made for the environmental art project in Taiwan. I used only natural or used material.
This work represented our desired future, living ecologically, without destroying environment. It is our pure spirituality like a rainbow that push the sail of our boat towards a sustainable society.
